Marsy's Law

In 2018, Marsy's Law was passed into legislation by Nevada voters. Marsy’s Law guarantees that victims of criminal acts in Nevada have the right to be treated fairly and with respect for their privacy and dignity. It ensures that victims will not be subjected to intimidation, harassment or abuse in a criminal or juvenile justice proceeding.

Marsy's Law provides that a victim must be reasonably protected from the defendant and anyone acting on behalf of the defendant. Victims also have a right to notice regarding hearings that concern the release, sentence and/or parole of a criminal defendant or juvenile offender.
